        Frequently asked questions

        Do I need a paid Todoist account?

        No. The extension works with both free and paid Todoist accounts.

        How does the free trial work?

        Add New Tab ist from the Chrome Web Store, open a new tab, connect Todoist and click Start my free trial. Every feature is free for 7 days, and no card is needed. There is one trial per Todoist account.

        What happens when the trial ends?

        Your new tab asks you to pick a plan: $1.99 a month, $14.99 a year or $39.99 once. Checkout opens with your Todoist email filled in, and the extension unlocks as soon as you have paid, with no code to copy. Nothing is charged automatically, and your settings and widgets are kept.

        Do I need a license code?

        Not if you pay in the extension: the plan is tied to your Todoist account and activates on its own. If you buy on this site, you get a code by email: in the new tab, click “Already bought it? Enter your license code”. One license works on 1 Chrome browser.

        What if I switch computers?

        Install the extension on the new computer and enter the same code. Each code works on 1 browser at a time: email support with your purchase address and we will move it for you.

        Can I use the regular Todoist interface instead?

        Yes. New Tab ist shows its own lighter Todoist view by default. In Settings, switch to the default Todoist embed to get the full app in your tab.

        Can I cancel my subscription?

        Yes, anytime, for both the monthly and the yearly plan. In the extension, open Settings › Subscription › Manage or cancel. Or go to your subscription page: enter the email you paid with and Stripe sends you a sign-in link. You can also change your card or download your invoices there. Access stays active until the end of the period you paid for.

        How is this Todoist Chrome extension different from the official one?

        The official Todoist for Chrome extension is a toolbar pop-up to add tasks and save pages. New Tab ist turns your new tab into your Todoist lists, with a focus timer, your progress and widgets, and can also save pages or any block of a page. Read the full comparison.

        Can I set Todoist as my Chrome new tab page without an extension?

        No. Chrome only lets you choose startup pages and a home button address; the new tab page can only be changed by an extension. See every method, step by step.

        Does it include a Pomodoro timer?

        Yes. Pick a task, set the duration in 5-minute steps and focus in the widget or full screen. The timer keeps running in the background, notifies you at the end and tracks your daily focus time and streak. More about the focus timer.

        What can the extension access?

        You connect your Todoist account once, on todoist.com: the extension never sees your password. Your tasks go directly between your browser and Todoist, never through our server. On other websites, the extension only acts when you click its icon to capture a page.
